Lopud is an island that has a settlement and small harbor of the same name. It belongs to the Elafiti islands that lie near the city of Dubrovnik. Motor vehicles are not allowed on Lopud which is connected to Dubrovnik by ferry. Archeological findings of the first settlements on the island date back to ancient times. Lopud has developed into a well-know tourist destination thanks to rich evergreen vegetation, mild Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, as well as splendid swimming areas.
